Discover Food Sensitivity Testing for a Healthier You

The world doesn't give the gut enough credit for all it does. It helps regulate metabolism, mood, and more.

That's why eating a food you're sensitive to can cause many symptoms throughout the body. It's like putting diesel fuel into a car that needs regular gas.

Learn how food sensitivity testing can lead to a healthier you.

What Is Food Sensitivity?

Food sensitivity can cause symptoms from head to toe. These may include:

· Bloating

· Gas

· Fatigue

· Brain fog

· Joint pain or stiffness

· Headaches or migraines

· Skin issues

· Sinus congestion

· Mood swings

· Anxiety or depression

You might not feel these symptoms immediately after eating a food you're sensitive to. You may be able to have a small portion but end up feeling horrible if you eat a large amount.

A food sensitivity test helps explain your symptoms and see which trigger food is behind them. A few of the most common food sensitivities include:

· Dairy

· Gluten

· Soy

· Eggs

· Corn

· Nuts

· Nightshades

It's also common to have multiple food sensitivities at once. This is even more common if you have underlying conditions such as IBS or celiac disease.

Sensitivity vs. Allergy vs. Intolerance

Approximately 32 million US residents have food allergies. These conditions can be outgrown but can also persist into adulthood.

Allergies trigger an immune response almost immediately after eating the food you're allergic to. It makes the body release antibodies to fight what it believes is a harmful substance.

Unlike sensitivities, allergies can be deadly. If they release too many antibodies, they can create a condition known as anaphylactic shock. Look for symptoms such as:

· Hives

· Tongue swelling

· Difficulty breathing or swallowing

· Dizziness

Intolerance refers to an inability to digest certain foods. Its symptoms are similar to those of sensitivities and allergies but tend to be less severe. Two of the most common types are lactose intolerance, which occurs when the body cannot digest the lactose in dairy, and gluten intolerance, which occurs when the body cannot break down the gluten in grains.

Types of Food Sensitivity Tests

MRT testing and elimination diets are the two most common and effective food intolerance tests.

Combining them can also be effective. One can help confirm the results of the other.

MRT Testing

MRT, or Mediator Release testing, is a form of functional lab testing that examines blood to measure how the immune system reacts to certain foods.

You'll get a complete list of foods that you're sensitive to. The results are fast, and there's no guesswork involved.

Elimination Diets

Elimination diets are specialized nutrition plans that identify food triggers. They involve gradually removing and reintroducing certain foods from the diet. When implemented with the help of an integrative nutritionist, they can provide effective results.

For the first three to four weeks, gradually remove foods that could cause sensitivities. Please pay attention to whether it improves your symptoms during that time.

Then, you reintroduce the foods into your diet every three to four days, one at a time. Continue to monitor your symptoms along the way. If taking away any foods eliminates your symptoms, you know it was a trigger.

Elimination diets show that slow and steady wins the race. They're a gradual but effective method.

Benefits of Food Sensitivity Testing

Food sensitivity testing is worth your time. Identifying your trigger foods can improve your gut health and overall quality of life.

You'll get these results faster than if you tried to go at it alone. The results can also help professionals create diet and exercise plans catered to your needs.

Improved Gut Health

Gut health involves two major components. First, you must balance the good and bad bacteria in your microbiome. Second, you must avoid trigger foods.

A test is the best way to determine your triggers. Finally, avoiding them and improving gut health through a holistic diet will relieve digestive symptoms.

Enhanced Quality of Life

Eating a holistic, trigger-free diet does much more than improve digestion. It's one of the best general health improvement strategies.

The gut is called "the second brain" because it relates to many other bodily functions. When it begins to work better, you'll also notice improvements in your:

· Metabolism

· Immune system

· Mood

· Hormone balance

Faster Results

MRT tests provide fast results. Elimination diets may take longer, but they're more effective and faster than trying to do it yourself.

You'll have professionals guiding you on which foods to eliminate and when. You won't waste time searching for what's causing your sensitivity. You'll return to a healthier, more fulfilling life sooner.

Personalized Diet and Weight Loss Programs

Food sensitivity testing helps you work with a wellness coach to achieve other health goals.

Identifying foods that harm your gut or alter your hormones is essential information. It lets them create a personalized nutrition plan that improves their health.

It also makes life easier for your weight loss coach. They can follow a program based on holistic nutrition, which tells them what they need to lose weight. It gives them the knowledge to create customized weight loss programs.

What to Do After Your Test

Swap out foods you're sensitive to with similar, equally satisfying ones. This way, you'll get the nutrition you need without feeling deprived.

Improving your wellness through diet changes is one of the most manageable first steps. It'll strengthen your gut resilience. This may allow you to reintroduce foods later. You'll also balance your hormone levels and energy.
